Zack Snyder Gets Sucker Punched by Amanda Seyfried

I am looking forward to this one

About a week or so ago I was considering an article headlined something like "Is Zack Snyder Still a Visionary Director?" but one thing I realized was I would be taking an undeserved shot at Snyder when the blame for that ridiculous label falls on the shoulders of the Warner Bros. marketing department. I personally like Snyder and enjoyed both the Dawn of the Dead remake and 300, which I recently added to my personal Blu-ray collection. Not every movie a director makes is one you are going to like, just because I didn't like Watchmen didn't mean Snyder was any less of a director in my mind and I am looking forward to seeing Sucker Punch too much to ever not want to give what is described as "Alice in Wonderland with machine guns" a chance.

Unfortunately the Sucker Punch project took a slight casting blow as one of my "will she be the next big female movie star" candidates has had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict.

Amanda Seyfried will no longer co-star in the feature according to Entertainment Weekly. She would have starred as the lead character Baby Doll, and the film would have certainly been a drastic change from her recent starring turn in Universal's hit musical Mamma Mia!

Baby Doll is described by EW as a young woman who has been committed to an insane asylum and fantasizes about escaping with the help of her fellow inmates. Seyfried has had to bow out due to her commitment to HBO's "Big Love" which the studio would not release her from in order to shoot the film as the two fall productions overlap. There is no word on a replacement.

Seyfried will next be seen opposite Megan Fox in the Diablo Cody scripted horror Jennifer's Body and she is currently scheduled to complete filming of Chloe this week, but due to the unfortunate passing of co-star Liam Neeson's wife, Natasha Richardson, scenes involving Neeson have been postponed to allow the grieving actor some time off.

I'm really intrigued by this one still. It sounds like Pan's Labyrinth meets Heavy Metal.

I too am interested in this film but my interest springs from the fact that I am an Abbie Cornish fan. This would be her first big American film, and more importantly, only her second non-historical role since Candy. (Ok, she was in A Good Year that same year too, basically an Australian/English production, but although I thought that film was limp and predictable, HER performance was razor sharp.) She shows tremendous talent and versitility in creating such emotional depths to her performances.
