Young Smit-McPhee Tapped for McCarthy's 'The Road'
Rumors still abound that Guy Pearce may still be involved
Shortly after Bloody-Disgusting reports a rumor that Guy Pearce, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Robert Duvall have all joined Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron in Dimension Films' adaptation of The Road word comes in from The Hollywood Reporter that McPhee has in fact joined the cast. However, for those looking for more, Pearce and Duvall were not mentioned.
Smit-McPhee, 11, will play Mortensen's son in the tale of a monthslong journey across a barren U.S. landscape after a cataclysmic event destroyed most of life on Earth. The story was adapted from Cormac McCarthy's ("No Country for Old Men") novel. John Hillcoat will direct from a screenplay by Joe Penhall.
Shooting is set to begin this month.
Smit-McPhee was recently cast in Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine as young Logan (a.k.a. Wolverine).

The whole cast has to be set now. There's only a handful of characters in the book and really, with the exception of father and son, they'd all essentially be cameos. But, oh man oh man, this means the film is that much closer to actually happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
