Recently, in one of the forum conversations, one of the RopeofSilicon users mentioned the possibility of keeping kids completely out of the theaters. Obviously this sounds quite rude to the politically correct crowd because those folks tend to look at things in the broadest of terms. However, what if some theaters adopted an "over 21" rule for various showings each day? Just imagine, you could go to a theater and you wouldn't have to worry about crying kids or even teenagers.

You could even take the idea a bit further and limit the attendance of senior citizens by eliminating the senior ticket pricing for these specific showings. That would hopefully remove the potential for, "What did he say?" and "What's going on?" statements. Of course there are plenty of over-21 idiots in America, but weeding out the elderly would at least remove the deaf and senile crowd along with the children.

I think it is quite an interesting idea and one theater owners could adopt if they promoted it and sold it as a benefit. For giant blockbuster films it probably wouldn't make much of a difference, but for the PG-13 horrors (if those interest you) or even some of the big dumb popcorn flicks it would at least limit the chances kids would be bothering you and may make the experience a little more enjoyable.

Considering the rising price of tickets I don't think it is too much to ask.

Now we're talking! Even if the ticket prices were slightly higher to offset the number of people in the theaters, I'd pay the extra to enjoy a movie without the added "kid" and "elderly" chatter.

i agree. even if i live in the philippines, there's a lot of stupid folks in these categories that would ruin your theatre experience. especially those teenagers who cant really follow a simple rule to silence their mobile phones.

Isn't it amazing how that happens? The teens, I think, also ruin the PG-13 horror movies. As if they weren't bad enough already, they have to talk through the entire thing.
