New Line Cinema purchased the rights to the pitch The Optimist for Seann William Scott to star in and produce.
The film centers on a man who's born without the gene for unhappiness, but that can't last as a woman, of all things, comes into his life. His perspective changes when he falls in love with the cynical reporter therefore creating the crux of the plot.
