James Ellroy idea coming to life
Forest Whitaker is in final negotiations to join Keanu Reeves in The Night Watchman over at Fox Searchlight for Harsh Times helmer David Ayer.
The pic is based on an original idea by James Ellroy centering on a veteran LAPD cop (Reeves) who turns to alcohol after the death of his wife. The cop is forced to go up against his longtime mentor (Whitaker) when he is implicated in the execution of a fellow officer.
Filming is scheduled to begin May 21.
