What is 'The Mummy 3' All About?
Well, it isn't exactly everything, but it is a little
SCI-FI Wire has added an interview with Al Gough, co-writer of The Mummy 3 with Miles Millar, and he spilled a small amount of beans on the upcoming third film in the franchise. The site had this to say:
…the sequel will unwrap a new mummy and feature a character who is the grown son of Rick and Evie (played in the previous films by Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz). It's aiming to shoot this summer under director Rob Cohen (Stealth) for a 2008 release.
Freddie Boath played Rick and Evie's son Alex in The Mummy Returns. Boath is 16 now and would be 17 if the film does indeed shoot this summer, but whether or not he will reprise the role is not known. Gough added, "We figured out a really good family story with Rick and Evie, and [their son] Alex is now grown up. So it's really interesting."
He also said that he thinks the script is good enough to persuade both Fraser and Weisz to return as they are now in negotiations. Stay tuned for more, because if this is going to shoot in the summer 2007 we are certainly going to be hearing a lot more soon.
