Weinsteins Go Sci-Fi with 'Outlander'
Karl Urban expected to star.
There is no doubt that Bob and Harvey Weinstein know what they are doing when it comes to movies and marketing and it seems they are taking full advantage of the Cannes Film Festival, using it as a springboard for their post-Disney/Miramax future with WeinsteinCo.
We now learn that the brothers have added the epic sci-fi flick Outlander to their distribution slate and Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Riddick) is in talks to star in the feature in which a man from another galaxy crash-lands on Earth at the time of the Vikings, bringing with him an alien predator called Moorwen.
Howard McCain is already aboard to direct the feature, which he penned with Dirk Blackman.
