Watch the Second Trailer for Tarsem's 'Immortals'

Does this one impress you more than the first?

The second trailer for Tarsem Singh's Immortals has arrived and the obvious curiosity is to wonder if it will impress you more than the first one, which received quite the negative response from several corners. I believe the one thing that hurts this film is that it's likely to look better on the big screen than it does on your computer screen as Tarsem's minimalistic sets look puny on your tiny computer monitor compared to the way they will likely look in theaters, but that could also just be me being optimistic.

The film is set to hit theaters on November 11, centering on Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, "The Tudors") as Theseus, a warrior from Greek mythology, who leads a fight against the imprisoned titans in a story where gods fight alongside mortals. Phaedra (Frieda Pinto), an oracle priestess joins Theseus on his quest to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting.

Check out the new trailer below and let me know what you think.

    Still cheesy

Much better trailer than before. Really looking forward to this.

Yeah, I can't say this looks significantly better. If anything, the performances look really awful chopped out of the film in such snippets… Perhaps I need to give Snyder and Butler more credit for being able to convey such over-the-top lines in "300" in a way that worked.

Moreover, the trailer just doesn't do a very good job of conveying the story. It's an army attacking a fortress in the middle of absolute nowhere, and a bunch of overly-dramatic lines that do little to illuminate what they're fighting over or what is at stake.

I can tell that Mickey Rourke is supposed to be the bad guy, I suppose, but no hint of what's bad about him (other than his sense in headwear.) We're told at the start of the trailer that he "has declared war on all humanity", but he looks to be human, and all of his army looks to be human (in fact, I can't for the life of me tell which side is supposed to be which in any of the fighting scenes) so I'm not sure what that means… especially since the text and other lines in the trailer seem to be about the hero rescuing the gods instead.

I think the marketing is just missing the ball completely on these trailers, assuming that they have any kind of film worth selling.

I think that is the first time that the term 'credit' has ever been used in the same sentence as either Snyder or Butler.

Still looks like a cheesy 300/Clash of the Titans mashup with terrible CGI. No interest whatsoever.

Still too cheesy to me. Not convinved by Henry Cavill here.

Conan looks better to me – more live real action and less CGI. It smells like huge under-performer or even flop..

    Prove… me… right.

    HAHA

First off, this trailer is MUCH better than the original one. This one was almost exciting. But "almost" is the key word. It almost looks intriguing, it almost looks visually stunning, Cavill's performance "almost" looks good. But I still haven't seen enough to sell me on this movie. Regardless, I am intrigued enough to be there for opening day regardless of what the critics say.

I remember the first AVATAR trailer that I say left me uninspired, confused and very skeptical; however, the 2nd trailer was much better and the final product was just brilliant. Perhaps this film will ultimately impress me.

Still one of my most anticipated. I think even if the people who are disliking it are right it could make this film better, for me at least. Because all the miniature looking sets and the way the cgi looks doesn't look bad to me, it looks like a much older movie. Like an homage to that era almost. Not that that's what I think he's doing just some of the set pieces and shots remind me of movies like The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur. So it looks more epic and biblical to me that way. I'll be there opening day most likely.

As with Green Lantern, I really root for this film to be good, due to the subject matter, which, when done well, can be really entertaining.

The trailer looks enjoyable, but lacks a really epic score at this point.

I will only see this Mickey Rourke. He's one of my favorite actors.

In November, laughfest will have a new meaning.

  13. ENOLA

…can't wait, a little bit of "300" and "Kong Fu Hussle", why not?

I quite liked the first trailer, but I do agree this one is better. The dialogue does sound rather cheesy. But I have to say this: As long as it's as visually enchanting as Tarsem's past work, and as long as it's as homoerotic as the trailers & advertising suggest, then I'm a happy cat.

lol are we supposed to take this seriously ? deus ex human revolutions CGI trailer is better put together than this, it looks super gimmicky, i wont be wasting time and money on this straight to DVD feature.

  16. Topy

Oh, gosh…i'm sorry. but it looks rather cheap… (I meant the effects. The actors we kinda so-so)

  17. Azreal

Hmmmm let's see, the human war machine against the titans, and directed by Tarsem? And in Imax?! And again directed by Tarsem? And featuring TITANS whooping human ass? And featuring Mickey as a bad guy?! And showing this on an epic scale directed by Tarsem?! WHAT THE HELL MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR?! YOU NAYSAYERS ARE SPITTING ON A MOVIE BASED ON 2 TRAILERS FOR A MOVIE THATS SET TO BE RELEASED 5 FRIGGING MONTHS FROM NOW?! SERIOUSLY?!
