Still without a distributor, Joel and Ethan Coen's new film Inside Llewyn Davis remains a bit of a mystery, but today we get our first look at the upcoming drama starring Oscar Isaac in the title role.

Scripted by the brothers, the film takes a look at the '60s Greenwich Village folk scene with Davis' struggles at the center of the story. A variety of folk musicians served as inspiration, though Dave Van Ronk and his memoir "The Mayor of MacDougal Street" was said to be the story's primary muse.

The film co-stars Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, Garrett Hedlund, John Goodman and F. Murray Abraham.

Check out the trailer below. The film will have a sneak premiere Saturday, February 9 on the Sony Lot. IndieWire has more news on that.

It's hard to get a read on this...can't really tell if it's a comedy or not. Not sure how I feel about the super soft lighting. Hope we get it soon though.

  2. The Jackal says:

This looks intriguing. It certainly held my attention. This film seems to have a very dark vibe to it; I can barely recognize Carey Mulligan underneath all of that bitterness. I'm very excited about this film. I've missed the Cohen brothers very much.

    Thems the facts

  3. Looks very interesting. I always like the Coens, and the performances in this look great as usual. Plus, I love the time period. Will be seeing this when it comes out.

  4. Sean Fast says:

I thought this sounded dumb when I first heard about it, but after reading the script I was impressed and affected by it. I really enjoyed it, and they definitely hooked me. I'll definitely give it a chance in theaters.

  5. Dale says:

The movie intrigues me. I well remember the sixties folk movement and believe it's a ripe subject for a movie. Timberlake, almost unrecognizable, looks like he's got the character down and you can never go wrong with John Goodman. I'm looking forward to it.

  6. Bren says:

Subject matter is completely uninteresting to me but I'll watch because of the Coen's. Good to see F. Murray Abraham working.

  7. Connor420 says:

I love Coen Brothers movies. I cannot wait for it. John Goodman is always good in Coen Bros movies. "OVER THE LINE."

  8. Corbin says:

I saw this yesterday, and while I'm not over the moon about it, I don't hate it, not like I hate The Heat. I guess I'm in the AS camp with this one, the trailer is 'meh'.
