Paramount has released the first trailer for Michael Bay's Pain and Gain starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson as a pair of criminal bodybuilders involved in an extortion ring and a kidnapping plot.

The film is based on a 1999 Miami New Times article and along with Johnson and Wahlberg the cast includes Ed Harris, Tony Shalhoub, Anthony Mackie, Rob Corddry, Tony Plana, Ken Jeong, Bar Paly and the reliably funny Rebel Wilson.

Pain and Gain is set to hit theaters on April 26, 2013. Check out the trailer below.

I don't know, I was always under the impression that this wasn't going to look like a Michael Bay film, that it would be a smaller budgeted dramatic piece. That's certainly not the case. Michael Bay just can't get away from himself.

I did like the "After this is over, we'll all go camping." Wahlberg has a way with lines.

  2. Stephen says:

I agree with Arthur, I was looking forward to a complete change of pace but it looks like that won't be the case.

With that being said, I still want to see it. Looks like an interesting story.

  3. Owen says:

Michael Bays knows how to make things look cool, I'll give him that. His movies never fail to entertain me, even if they're usually terrible.

  4. G-Man says:

This looks good. I've never watched any Transformers movies, but I think Michael Bay gets a ridiculously exaggerated bad rap.

On a personal note - I really like three of his movies - Bad Boys 2, Armageddon, and The Rock.

  5. Looks kinda goofy. Dwayne Johnson is a monster! As a former college football player and a very amateur body builder I will more than likely see this...not in theaters though.

  6. Chris says:

No thanks. I'm done with Michael Bay films. I can enjoy a stupid movie, but this looks way too stupid. Idk if Bay was going for it but this looks extremely homoerotic as well. Kind of like Point Break.
