My review is just around the corner

I will have my review of Mike Leigh's first film in four years, Mr. Turner, not too long from now, but first here's a new trailer for the film, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. Now Mr. Turner, centering on the latter years of British painter J.M.W. Turner (Timothy Spall), will make its way from Telluride to Toronto to New York, hoping to pick up awards steam along the way.

I don't want to say anything too specific about the film right here so I'll let you begin to form an opinion on whether or not you're interested based on the trailer alone. The one thing I will say, however, is that yes, the film is as beautiful as the images in this trailer promise.

Mr. Turner will begin hitting theaters on December 19, watch the trailer below.

It looks nice visually, but not one that I particularly want to see. Just doesn't seem like my type of movie.

Leigh is a personal favorite so I will definitely be seeing this, especially after immensely enjoying Another Year and Happy-Go-Lucky and hearing about the raves at Cannes. And yes, the cinematography and production values look beautiful here.

Love Leigh and Spall and I liked the trailer as well. It had a quirkiness which gives it that slightly off centre feel. I like slow films with depth and detail. It makes a change from the bigger emotionally packed story lines.
