Based on "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's novel of the same name, The Host is a riveting story about the survival of love and the human spirit in a time of war. Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact. Most of humanity has succumbed.

When Melanie (Saoirse Ronan), one of the few remaining "wild" humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer (also played by Ronan), the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

Horrible teaser, just like the 1st teaser for The Hunger Games...

    Potter ended, Hunger Games arrived.

Twilight ends, The Host arrives...? (The Host is a planned trilogy, yes they divided the book in 3)

HAHAHAHAHA OMG is this serious stuff?

The first part of the trailer made this seem like a Terrence Malick movie. Does anyone agree?

  • Mason Williamson

    ...r...really?

  • Sam Lane

It has a good cast and Andrew Niccol is a really good director. So, while I still have my doubts about Stephenie Meyer's abilities, I'll give it a chance.

I, for one, welcome our new glowy eyed overlords.

  • Kimberlesk

I never got past the 3rd chapter of this book.

  • Mari S

They split the book into a trilogy..? No way there's material for three movies, there's barely enough for one! And the ending of the book is so awful and ridiculous that they'd better make significant rewrites if this is ever going to work as a movie.

That's not even a teaser trailer! Come on. Try a little harder next time.
pd: on other aspects, I love Ronan so I will see this one.

Obviously a bit early to imagine the final result but.............I think I'll pass. I couldn't even read the synopsis of the novel without thinking how awful it all sounded.
