Was Quentin Tarantino Drunk When He Talked about 'Inglorious Bastards' in Cape Cod?

Everywhere on the Internet yesterday were reports that Quentin Tarantino was talking about Inglorious Bastards. Well, guess what, if this is talk then I have no idea what I am doing because this is some of the most outlandish shit I have ever heard.

The BBC reports and gives us the following quotes from the Provincetown Film Festival:

He was surprised that the news of his screenplay had spread so rapidly. "I didn't know everyone knew about it, so this is actually kind of very bizarre for me."

Uh, really QT? A quick search on RopeofSilicon brings up this article from 2005, at which time I actually had the damn movie in the database before deleting it only to add it again recently.

He says, "what actually got me to sit down and put pen to paper was 'hey wouldn't it be fun to do a Dirty Dozen kind of thing?' It doesn't look anything like The Dirty Dozen."

Huh? Do a Dirty Dozen thing but have it not look like Dirty Dozen? Okay. I think that is what George Lucas did with the prequels, "I wanted to do a Star Wars kind of thing, but not have it look anything like Star Wars." I think we have this quote figured out.

With Inglorious Bastards he will be making his first period film.

But he said: "I don't want it to feel like a period film. I want it to feel current.

"I want it to feel right now. One of the things I have to battle against is 30 years of Nazi-occupation TV movies where we've all seen the big streets and the vintage cars and the Swastikas, and we've just seen that ad nauseum.

'Telling my stories'

"This is a modern, in-your-face movie. This is not a TV movie period piece."

At this point I don't even think a human wrote this article. What is with that quote "Telling my stories," doing in the middle there? Did QT suffer a bout with tourettes in the middle of the interview? Also, he wants to make a modern World War II movie? What does that mean?

Tom Brook apparently penned the piece for the BBC, but you have to click here just to see the pictures they used for the article. I seriously think they may believe Tarantino is just some kook that escaped from the farm and may have made the entire article up.
