'War of the Worlds' is Underway
New set shots, and casting call.
The sci-fi actioner War of the Worlds, starring Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Tim Robbins and Miranda Otto and being directed by Steven Spielberg is going full steam ahead over in Newark, New Jersey as several set pics have begun popping up online.
The re-imagining of the H.G. Wells novel, which was first turned into an Oscar award winning film back in 1953 follows an alien invasion of Earth and is currently set for a July 29, 2005 release date.
There are several options for pics to check out starting with a good gallery of filming shots over at burningmax.com, plus a TON of shots of TC over at TomCruiseFan.com.
As for some casting news the Saratogian posted a news article announcing a casting call for extras over in Athens, NY for a waterfront scene, where filming will take place Dec. 6-9 for a scene in which people are fleeing onto a 168-foot ferry trying to escape the alien invaders.
The request is for approximately 1,000 extras, which will be paid $80 per day, and only adults are sought for such spots. Interested people should arrive at the Community Center early with a photo of themselves.
