Fox opened the official site and debuted the teaser trailer (courtesy of IMDb) and poster for Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the follow-up to Oliver Stone's 1987 film starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen.

The sequel, set for release on April 23, brings back Douglas in his Oscar-winning role as Gordon Gekko as he emerges from his lengthy prison stint only to once again look to rise to the top at the expense of his daughter's fiance played by Shia LaBeouf. The film also stars Carey Mulligan as Gekko's daughter along with Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, Vanessa Ferlito, Josh Brolin and Charlie Sheen in a cameo appearance as Bud Fox.

A couple of days ago I added nine stills from the film, which you can browse right here and today you can check out a larger version of the poster over at IMDb right here.

I have attached the trailer directly below, give it a peek and let everyone know what you think in the comments.

    Great poster. Cheesy title.

  2. Charles Carmichael

The original is fantastic, Michael Douglas was brilliant in his performance. This sequel however seems unnecessary after seeing the teaser.

When I heard about this film some time ago, I thought it could be interesting until I saw that Shia LaBeouf was attached to star…. he really annoys me.

That actually looks a hell of a lot better than I thought it would. I keep forgetting that Oliver Stone is incapable of making a truly inept film, so hopefully this one will be a good watch.

Also, fantastic poster! One of the best posters I've seen in the past few months or so.

  4. goavs

    looks like poop

  5. Central Ohio

This movie looks like a bust. Sorry Oliver Stone. I hope I'm wrong.

  6. maja

I have mixed feelings about this. The sequel is completely unnecessary, and casting Shia LaBeouf is a poor move. Plus the title is so cheesy.
I have no doubt that Michael Douglas won't disappoint in this, and neither will Brolin.

  7. ChipDouglas

Teaser is good, but Shia is still in it… Hopefully Stone managed to beat a good performance out the kid. Still cool to see Douglas back as Gekko.

  8. The trailer looks a lot better than I expected, but I still would much rather seen Emile Hirsch in this than Shai Labeouf.

I still don’t understand the incessant Shia Labeouf force-feeding we are receiving, as any role he is given would be much better served in the hands of someone like Emile Hirsch. This is no exception. Labeouf is not a box-office draw. Transformers and Indy 4 would have been huge with or without him. No one watches Transformers to see Shia, they just want to see giant robots beating the shit out of each other. If more people understood this, we would see these types of roles given to people who actually deserved them and could bring some sort of individuality and appeal to the characters. [End of rant]

    Shia LaBeouf is in?
    No ticket from me.

    He's incredibly boring.

@Kevin: I wouldn't exactly call it forcefeeding. He has been in a couple of movies a year which is pretty normal and not over the top.
Also, you are forgetting about Disturbia (and Eagle Eye), which really was a box office smash, and he was the lead role in that without the help of Megan Fox or Harrison Ford. I personally can't stand him too, but unfortunately it seems like he is becoming a draw in the States.

this is gonna be good, at least on Michael Douglas' part, i think he'll be great, i just hope he doesnt have to carry shia….hes not necessarily known for more dramatic type roles…but well c

  12. christian

i also wonder what "bud fox'l bring to the table…. ive always liked surprise cameos,

  13. randy

i havent seen the first one but most likely will shortly. Shia labeouf …. what can i say about him ? I see ppl seeing this movie just because hes in it. He has that power to bring teenagers and young adults into theaters even if the movie is crap ( Tansformers 2)

  14. anonymous

    Shia looks so damn good

  15. EnglishGavz

@maja I'll give you Disturbia (it wasn't meant to be a remake of Rear Window was it?) But Eagle Eye was a disapointment, relying more on heavy adevrtising because of the big budget which comes with having the word Speilburg on the posters.

Oliver Stone definitly always has a good plan going into a movie, and this looks O.K except for the titles. There really wasn't that much in it to come to any conclusions, just the generic shots of characters saying vaguely witty lines. Any Carrey Mulligan looking hot, I might watch it for that.

Does the poster though remind everyone of Step Brothers?

  16. does anyone think this will be PG-13 as opposed to the originals Hard r just throwing it out there

  17. aj

    it should be r
but the music makes it seem like a slick hard gun tooting action film not like a hard edge economy driven drama

  18. Mikey Sylwer

    April 23rd release?
so I guess he's not going for an Oscar push?
Probably wouldn't be any good anyways

  19. I'm more impressed than I thought I would be.

  20. PinstripedJon

I'm predicting a 67% rotten tomatoes approval rate, and a complete bomb at the box-office.

I highly doubt people will be pouring in to the theaters to see a sequel of a 1987 film. Let's face it, the majority of the people who go to the theaters are young people. Most of which weren't even born when "Wall Street" was released.

Expect a huge box office flop.

    @Vince (Not Vance):
    Two films. U-Turn and Alexander.
But this looks like a hell of lot of fun and really well timed film. I'm excited

  22. Nevera

This film will be nr.1 movie the week of 23rd April. Why hating on Shia? To those that don't like him, stick to Robert Pattinson.

  23. Jon

Let me start off by saying I think that Oliver Stone has amazing talent. But since Platoon and Wall Street, I don't think that he has released anything of greater quality than the Charmin in my bathroom except maybe JFK. However, I will say it is intriguing to have Gordon Gecko in today's world and just see how much the world of finance has changed. Wasn't interested in the least bit to see this until I saw an older Gordon Gecko and I was compelled to give it some attention. And by the way, for all the people complaining about Shia being in this, I'm sorry that Christian Bale can't play every major character aged between 25 and 35. Maybe he will add more time in his day to fill your needs when he isn't yelling at DPs.
