Wainwright to Direct 'The Fog' Remake
Film set for October 21, 2005
Revolution Studios has set Stigmata director, Rupert Wainwright to direct the upcoming remake of John Carpenter's 1981 horror classic The Fog.
The film is set for an October 21 release date and is said to take on the story of the original while adding a little twist as Variety describes it as the helmer coming on to direct the "Fog" redux with a take that involves fleshing out a storyline that was described verbally in the first film.
The original folllowed a thick fog enshrouding the coastline of Northern California. The ghostly cloud is reminiscent of one 100 years before that wrecked a ship and drowned the seamen aboard. Sure enough, the seamen are back, mighty angry and out to kill whomever they find.
This remake is said to honor the original but build on it, in order to make it a film of its own.
