'Vendetta' Helmer Heads to 'Bangkok'
James McTeigue is heading to Thailand
After V for Vendetta director James McTeigue was brought in to direct a few scenes on the upcoming alien thriller The Invasion for producer Joel Silver, but it looks like he is branching away from Joel for one flick as he has been attached to Bangkok 8 for Millenium Films.
Bangkok 8 is the first in a three-book bestselling mystery series by John Burdett and follows a detective with the Royal Thai Police Force who tracks the murderers of his partner, and also a U.S. Marine. The trail leads through Bangkok's drug and sex trade, and corrupt colleagues.
Word is that they plan on adapting several of the Burdett novels and shoot in Thailand. Burdett himself just finished "Bangkok Haunts", the third film in the series. He lives in Thailand and apparently knows the terrain.
