UPDATE: Sacha Baron Cohen Just Killed a Man
No, not really, but the guy he's playing sang that once.

UPDATE: The lesson to be learned here is to never report a story out of a UK rag as MTV has a report saying that Sacha Baron Cohen will not play Freddie Mercury and the report is "absolutely untrue." So, read on if you want to listen to Laremy's entertaining rambling, but know it is not true. (Edited by Brad Brevet)
Mirror.co.uk, the self proclaimed "best newspaper on the web" is reporting:
Sacha Baron Cohen is set to play Queen singer Freddie Mercury in a big budget movie about his life.
The "it" comedy boy of the year tackling one of the great rock legends? For y'all not aware, Freddy Mercury died of AIDS back in 1991 but before that Queen was one of the biggest bands on the planet. If you're not familiar with their work, but are familiar with Wayne's World, you might remember the "Bohemian Rhapsody" scene in the tiny car. That was them. Also "We Will Rock You." C'mon, if you've been to a sporting event you know that one. Work with me.
Suposedly, again according to this web based newspaper, Cohen beat out Johnny Depp for the role. I have my doubts there. Borat was fun, and Cohen is funny, but does anyone doubt that Johnny Depp can have whatever damn role he pleases? If he didn't get this one it's because he had something better to do. Take that webpaper!
The article also mentioned that Borat's look was modeled after Freddy Mercury, and if you look at this picture you'd have to say that seems legit.
The subject of the biopic will be "(Mercury's) legendary partying." Hmm. That might not be the full picture. At least I hope not. The story of Freddy is kind of a sad, sort of like Jim Morrison, so they can't be going for full on comedy. Plus, you know, AIDS doesn't exactly lend itself to a party atmosphere.
But let's see what Ali G has got in store for us. At the very least it will be interesting to see his range.
