Universal Drives Hard to the Hole with 'Candy Land' Live-Action
I'm going to go out on a limb and say this one isn't for me
Apparently Universal Pictures sees a future in a movie based on the Hasbro board game "Candy Land" and has set Etan Cohen to write the script and Kevin Lima to direct. If you were hoping for more details on the project itself good luck, because that is the only information Variety is reporting outside of saying it is the first film to emerge from the deal Universal made last February with Hasbro. The film will be live-action if that counts for anything.
As for the talent involved, Etan Cohen wrote Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa and co-wrote Tropic Thunder while Kevin Lima directed Enchanted and 102 Dalmations.
My guess is this will be something to sit right next to Curious George on the Universal mantle, but I am just a little curious, if this film gets nominated for an Oscar in the script category will it have to be as an Adapted Screenplay?

The premise itself is desperate. But the writer and director are both very capable. Hmm, I wonder how this is going to turn out? I think it might at least be more interesting than "Monopoly," which has also been announced.
