Two Clips from 'Beautiful Creatures' - Franchise Starter or One and Done?

Can you tell from these two clips?

Beautiful Creatures posterI can't quite tell what to make of Beautiful Creatures. Clearly Warner Bros. is making an attempt to kickstart a new young adult franchise considering we're talking about a film adapted from the best-selling series of novels by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, but a February release date isn't exactly favorable placement.

The film is described as a supernatural love story set in the South, telling the story of two star-crossed lovers: Ethan (Alden Ehrenreich), a young man longing to escape his small town, and Lena (Alice Englert), a mysterious new girl. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum and Emma Thompson co-star.

Today two new clips from the film have arrived online to give you a closer look. Have a peek and see what you think.

I saw the trailer last week at the theatre, and it was the first time I paid a little attention to it, and it looks pretty bad, so just with the trailer, I think it will be a "one and done" situation.

The book series is incredible, so I'm hopeful this will be a good adaption. The material is fantastic.

So then, the books are really good? I'll give them a shot.
I loved the Twilight book series and then suffered thru 5 crap films and an even crappier PR-mance called Robsten that overshadowed it. Vampire Diaries and Evermore turned me off Young Adult books. Yet I still get sucked in by these trailers.
