Thanks, i'm 16 and i love the books...but not because i think of it as some built up fantasy. I know what's reality and what is not. Dating a vampire and having a bestfriend werewolf is defiantly not reality. But, while you're reading it's still fun to beleive it could happen. No matter what, teenagers are gonna dream whether it be about being with Robert PattINson, because if your gonna rag on him learn how to spell his name, or Jenna Jameson. So, just leave it be...you all seem to be grown adults and that means you should be able to see both sides of the story, right?

As someone over the 40+ mark and having lived thru tons of movie types- action, drama and moronic comedy I would like to tell you why The Twilight books are doing more that well and why I am loving every minute.
I want to be entertained, no provoking thoughts or issues, no over the top gore, no depressing endings. I want to be transported to a world where the heart wants one thing and having found it, refuses to let go. Twilight gives a fresh twist on an romance. And it feels safe to watch it as well. Yes I read the books as well and enjoyed them so much. You can go into any bookstore and find a romance novel, however to find a story which can take you back to your own feelings of being young and wanting to know so much and love so much is really not that easy to do. I commend Stephenie Meyers writing ability.

Quake82, that was funny as hell about the DVD set & the Edward blowup doll. I was like you & was forced by a girlfriend to see it. I didn't feel like an argument, so I went. I ask her to go see the crap I wanna see, so I didn't mind (I haven't read any of the books & never even heard of this crap until a week or 2 before it came to theaters). The girl I was with also laughed at all the corny/cheesy dialouge & I couldn't believe all the collective sighs, ohhs, ahhs, & other pretty filthy stuff I heard all the women/tweens say when Edward came on screen. I wouldn't knock a guy for women thinking he was good looking, but this crap was ridiculous. I can't believe they are rushing the next movie out so soon, I thought it was a typo when I read it was coming out November 2009, I dont see how the hell they can even film the thing...but I really really hope I wont be forced to see it. I already dread the DVD coming out, there won't be any escaping it then!

@Phobia: I agree. I wasn't a fan of the first film (my girlfriend actually rolled her eyes and laughed at some of the cheesy dialogue - oh, and whenever Edward got all sparkly). Still, I will reserve judgment on the series until after I've seen New Moon.

However, that having been said, I believe they are rushing this second installment into production too quickly. I mean, give the Twilight DVD time to build up steam, release the obligatory 4-Disc Special Director's Cut Extended Edition Complete with Rob. Patterson Blow-up Doll, get a big budget, then release New Moon in 2010 to be swiftly followed by Eclipse in 2011.

Anyone else think they are rushing into New Moon?

I know a few women my age (27 - 30 years old) who are completely obsessed with these books & movies & with this Edward Cullen douche. They think this guy really exists! I can't believe grown women are becoming obsessed with this crap! A date dragged me to see this & got mad when I fell asleep in the theater! I pray I'll be single when New Moon comes out so I won't be forced to watch it.

I'm going to give New Moon a chance. Hopefully, the new director and bigger budget might save it. I honestly believe there might be a chance to save it, even though the "tweens" will still be just as satisfied with complete garbage.
