I have here some $8,000 in these letters sent to my office from all over the country – quarters, dimes, dollar bills from housewives, plumbers, car salesmen, teachers, invalids … These are the people who cannot afford to send money but do, these are the ones who drive the cabs, who nurse in the hospitals, who see their kids go to Vietnam. Why? Because they care, because they want to know the truth – because they want their country back, because it belongs to us the people as long as the people got the guts to fight for what they believe in!

My favorite sequence in the movie is Donald Sutherland's but this is one of the great courtroom scenes ever. Costner nails it.
Agreed. One of the great courtroom scenes ever. Remember, jury in that case acquitted Shaw, because Shaw lied on the stand and so did Attorney Dean Andrews, without which Shaw would have been convicted. David Ferrie's convenient death had the effect of protecting Shaw also. In any event, the jury was polled and did FIND A CONSPIRACY, however. This was important, but the media, of course, treated as a vindication of the Warren Commission, and its ridiculous "magic bullet" theory. Dean Andrews was convicted for perjury for his testimony in Shaw trial for lying about Shaw being the "Clay Bertrand" that asked Andrews to rep Oswald in Dallas!! Without said perjury, as said, Shaw would have likewise been convicted.
CIA did it, with Oswald as their patsy, and LBJ and Hoover covered it up!! Read all the research you can on the subject.
