'True Blood' Season Two Paley Festival Clip
What is in the fog?
HBO just sent over the following clip from the upcoming second season of "True Blood" which was recently shown at the Paley Festival. Season two of "True Blood" debuts on HBO on June 14th and season 1 of the series will be released on DVD/Blu-ray on May 19th. The soundtrack will also be released on May 19th.
You can get a look at two season two posters here and I also have ten pics from the next season right here.
In the not-too-distant future, vampires have come out of the coffin. Thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood, vampires no longer need humans for their fix and can walk freely, if not yet comfortably, among their living counterparts – though they can still come out only at night.
Meanwhile, in the backwoods Louisiana town of Bon Temps, Sookie Stackhouse works as a waitress at the down-home bar Merlotte's. Though outwardly normal, she has unusual qualities of her own: Sookie can read minds, which complicates her world in endless ways. But Sookie's life becomes a lot more interesting when Merlotte's gets its first vampire patron – the 173-year-old Bill Compton – and the two outsiders are immediately drawn to each other.

Of course it starts of with Sookie pissed about something; does she ever do anything else?
Don't get me wrong though, I like the show, and the second half of the clip was pretty darn cool.
Please tell me it's not a Werewolf, those things seriously freak me out, I can take a lot but Werewolves are not one of them
It's not a warewolf chasing her. It is actually the taken from the first chapter of the second book. If you read the book, you will know what was chasing her :) looks good, cant wait.
I don't think it's what was in the book… I think the maenad has been revealed already. Unless [it] has a different shape when… well…. being what it is. (trying not to give too many details!)
They have mentioned many a time that they're straying in some ways from the books, and adding a new creature or two… I wouldn't be surprised if this is something entirely… well, new to all of us. (Alan must want to incorporate some surprises for those of us who have read the novels as well..)
I hope it is somewhat the same as it is in the book. But, we will see,, i am soooo excited!
That my friends was the maenad.
nicolette, i'm pretty sure u thought the brunette with Tara was the maenad, and so did I at first, and we might both we right in that she changes, but now i'm kinda thinking that the brunette is Claudine, the fairy godmother
Claudine is NOT the brunette. The brunette is the Maenad. She has a boar!

@Amanda:
Nobody likes spoilers. First season viewers don't know what a Maenad is let alone who it is, try and keep that in mind.
Oh my god! I can't wait for this to come back on! Bill is so freaking sexy. He's Louisiana's Edward Cullen (that's who he reminds me of)
@Spoiler Police: I like spoilers lol, and did do one read greek and roman myths at primary school? surely everyone knows what a maeaned is also since no one has seen season 2 then we're alll season 1 viewers, you mean people too lazy or illiterate, to have read the books. If you don't want spoilers don't click news about true blood links! bloody hell
I think what (I won't say so that I don't spoil anything) was chasing looks pretty accurate from the book. Not bad so far…
@Spoiler Police:
If you dont want spoilers, read the books, and or skip these comments. dont expect to police comments on a blog.
Also, its hard to spoil since we really dont know what is going on since thy're diverging so much from the books. Clearly that chick isnt a maenad because she doesnt act anything like one.
It's as if they took situations from the book (like the maenad attack) and put in a whole new creature instead…. and tok the idea of the maenad traveling with a boar and swapping in the creepy brunette instead.
also, Claudette is going to be much hotter than the brunette. All due respect.
Hey boys take it easy on the spoiler police they are just doing what they are supposed to do!! If a person is posting a spoiler they are supposed to put that on their post first so that if people don't want to know or haven't read the books then they will skip over that post!! Keep it nice and civil here and thanks to everyone for their posts!!
thank you, getting only a pinch from season two makes me even more impatient…
Maybe I am a purist, but I like the set up in the book better. I hope she is as indifferent to the power of vampires as she was in the book. Who knows. Hollywood tends to downplay the power/influence of women characters, mythical or not. The book masterfully blends suspense, horror, and humor in this scene. This clip seems one dimesional compared to the book.
It has to be the maenad. She can change form, remember? She is evil but can lure people in by her beauty… I have no idea why she showed up earlier with Tara and Eggs but that was so close to the book (with the exception of the little tart vamp girl which is confusing me, too) that it has to be her. I am super excited about the new season!
She is the maenad…she has to be. She has a pig, attacks sookie, and recieves gifts. Remember? It's her, but I'm confused because I thought she didn't show up until the third book. They must be doing things out of order.
I cannot stinking wait……..bring on Eric!
Okay no I correct myself….this did happen in the second book. I've read all of them so they run together.
(On their way to fangtasia….right?)
in the second book that's when sookie's supposed to be attacked by the maenaid but she's not supposed to look like that, and they talk before sookie's attacked cause it's the attack is a message for eric
Loving the show although the book is better, but I am seriously confused about this whole Jessica character….can I hope she disappears soon? And yes, it is the Maenad after Sookie, and Claudine is not the brunette we met the end of season 1.
@nicolette: Why can't they just stay true to the books! The books were great! If I were an author I would be so hesitant to hand over my creations to someone else, just so they can chop them up for tv or movie for that matter. It's frustrating to get so heavily emotionally invested in characters in a book, than have the movie or show come out and know every little variation from the original piece. I have considered not seeing the books I hold so dear on screen, but it is nice to see these characters that you have envisioned throughout the books come to life. That's just my two cents.
