David told me he saw this trailer before Indiana Jones but it was nowhere to be found even though I did find out that the official site was online. However, the trailer for David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is now online. Yeah, it's in Spanish and once the English version is available I will have it for you, but for now éste es todo lo que usted consigue.

David told me, "I have a gut feeling this may be Fincher's Oscar. Just a pure gut feeling." What do you think?

The film hits theaters on December 19, 2008, stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett and was adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: A man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any man's life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, "Benjamin Button," is a grand tale of a not so ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

Dude, the whole thing is in spanish…but it's a teaser with little speaking anyways. Regardless of the language, i think the tone still comes across quite well.

It looks very interesting and different from what i would've expected. I thought it took place in modern times and didn't realize that he would grow up old and when he was a teenager he'd have gray hair and stuff.

It just seems really fucked up (and i'm willing to bet imdb forum posters will of course complain about plotholes), but I'm a pretty big Fincher fan (Zodiac is one of my favorite movies), so I'll definitely see it and I also am a huge Brad Pitt fan.

To be honest, it seems more like a Del Toro movie or a Burton movie than a Fincher movie.

But this will not win Best Picture, and probably won't even be nominated…it's just too weird.

It's weird. But. It's also a classic short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. So there's some pedigree and cultural foreknowledge to balance out the weirdness (plus Eric Roth wrote the screenplay, more Oscar pedigree). And I just have this feeling that Brad Pitt–assuming he's good in the movie–is sort of on the verge to receive a "he's due" Oscar. So–again assuming the movie is really good, and with Fincher helming that's more than likely–I think there's enough there to get it on the playing field for Oscar attention.

As for Fincher. I think most of Hollywood realizes how great he is–and if Zodiac was released later last year, I'm positive it would have gotten more attention. So it's just a pure, pure pure gut feeling that this could finally be Fincher's big year.

Or maybe the film will suck balls. Who knows?

I loved Zodiac and I am a big fan of Fincher.

I think it looks interesting and definitely one of my most anticipated movies of the year.

As for Oscar prospects, IDK. It is F Scott Fitzgerald, but this isn't The Great Gatsby. Plus it sort of reminds me of Youth without Youth. I just hope that it will be a good film.
