Trailer Time: 'Dr. Parnassus,' 'Wild Things' and 'New York'
Get a load of Depp, Law, Ledger and Farrell
Three new trailers have arrived online recently and instead of three separate posts how about you take in all three at once as an international trailer for Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus is here with an impressive look at a film that looks much better than I expected it to at first glance. Next is the ensemble omnibus New York, I Love You with the liks of directing a myriad of stars and finally the second trailer for Where the Wild Things Are.
All three films hit theaters on October 16, but of the bunch The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus does not have a U.S. distributor yet and will be hitting U.K. and Italian theaters only.
You can check out all three trailers directly below.
You can get this trailer in slightly better quality right here.
You can get this trailer in high-definition right here.

Okay, I think the trailer for the Imaginarium looks interesting, but there is SOOOO MUCH going on, it's almost distracting, and Johnny Depp seems to be still quite connected to Jack Sparrow, which he needs to detach himself from. I didn't see enough of Heath Ledger but I don't think it's going to really be a good performance for his last.
New York, I Love You has….. WAAAAY too many people in it. Too many names, too many characters, it seems, in a movie. I don't think I'll be able to care enough about the characters, nor like or hate them. It seems interesting, it does, but it just seems kinda crowded.
Where the Wild Things Are looks great, still, and I think it's going to touch a lot of people. The song from the first trailer was in this again but it seems a lot different, like a rerecording or something, I dunno. It was REALLY loud and I couldn't pay attention to the trailer because the music was so distracting. It's like… trying to be indy film or something, which is annoying
@Brady: New York, I Love You is a series of short films that are all connected by location. It isn't one big story, it's a bunch of small ones all from different directors.
So great to see "Academy Award Winner Heath Ledger".
@Brad Brevet: Again, an interesting concept to do a whole bunch of small films in one, but really, how many films are they fitting into this movie? How long is the movie? And are the films long enough for us to be able to get to know the characters well enough to relate/like/hate/be annoyed with them? That's my only concern
@Brady: It's a follow-up to Paris, Je T'aime, which was made up of 18 five-minute short films. To my knowledge this one has ten shorts with the following people directing segments: Joshua Marston, Shekhar Kapur, Mira Nair, Brett Ratner, Fatih Akin, Yvan Attal, Allen Hughes, Shunji Iwai, Wen Jiang and Natalie Portman. Scarlett Johansson had a segment, but I believe it got cut from the final film.
I didn't really think all that much of Paris, Je T'aime, but if you have a Netflix account you can check it out right here on their Instant Play right now.
Brady, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Just because there are "too many people in the movie" or whatever does not make it bad. Haven't you ever seen a play that is a series of shorts? Also, it's a comedy and in most comedy you don't care about the characters. You are waaaaaaaay to picky and probably take yourself too seriously. To me it sounds like you don't know that much about film.
I cannot believe that the imaginarium of doctor Parnassus does not have a distributor in the U.S. It will be a real shame if we are unable to see this movie!!!!!
@Gilmore: dude… calm down, it was just a first look observation. I notice the people on here (like any other awesome nerd website) get extremely shouty at other commenter's or authors of posts and it just… isn't called for, which is why I never post on here. Gee, now I know to keep silent, thanks for silencing another movie goer
The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus looks amazing we need this movie in the US theather ASAP!
Not a fan of Gilliam, but I do want to see Parnassus, mostly just since it's Heath's last movie. I also like the other actors portraying Tony. Very sad that this will be the only time we see 'Academy Award winner Heath Ledger' in a trailer, and his last time to shine on the big screen.
The best thing about all three of these trailers was "Academy Award Winner Heath Ledger."
