First Trailer for Tarsem's 'Immortals'
Our first bit of actual footage
A bootleg version of this teaser trailer for Tarsem Singh's Immortals was online earlier this morning, but now a better version has arrived, suitable for posting.
The film seems to be something of a 300 meets Clash of the Titans and stars Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, "The Tudors") as Theseus, a warrior from Greek mythology, who leads a fight against the imprisoned titans in a story where gods fight alongside mortals. Phaedra (Freida Pinto), an oracle priestess joins Theseus on his quest to prevent the cataclysmic war from erupting.
Relativity Media is set to release the film on November 11 and along with Cavill and Pinto it features Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion, Stephen Dorff as Stavros, Luke Evans as Zeus, John Hurt as an older version of Zeus, Isabel Lucas as Athena and Daniel Sharman as Ares. Really awful trailer, looks like they just saw 300 and decided to do something similar, they they watched Clash of the Titans and decided to edit it last …
this trailer seems like it was put together in quite a hurry. I was excited for Immortals, and still am, but this trailer completely tanked!
I love me some sword and sandal epics! and this looks like it could be quite good.. but the quality of the video was not the highest and i think i'll wait for a HD version to surface before becoming fully excited.. but Yay for henry cavill he is a bound for greatness..on a side note freida pinto delivers her lines without any emotion.. not sure that is a good thing. on another board where the video has been pulled down there is a lot of talk about similarities with 300 going on but i dont see it.. the slo-mo is not as exaggerated.. I hope the entire movie is not in the sepia tone though… tarseem is a master of colours his "The Fall" was brilliant!
Yawn, looks like 300 meets Clash of the Titans. And maybe it's just because the video quality was poor, but the CGI looks awful. Could also be they just didn't polish it up for the trailer.
Well, working on the assumption that this early stuff, that looked pretty decent.
The Bow and arrow was awesome and the cinematography was pretty. I don't hold out much hope for a story though.

Maybe I'm just not the market for these kinds of films (I though both '300' and 'Clash of the Titans' were pretty poor films all round) so perhaps that's why I don't respond to them much. Some of the dialogue is pretty cheesy as well.
Doesn't make me want to see it.

for real… i like the casting but i think im gonna hate him when its all said and done… not to mention the background of these scenes are so like 300 it makes me sick

Were you not paying attention? The gods chose well. And, he has the magic rock-borne bow. How did he not kill EVERYONE with just three arrows?
As if the trailer isn't bad enough with it's been-there, done-that vibe (incidentally, Producers of 300 (hello!)), Frieda Pinto is bringing the Miral curse to this film with another uninspiring performance.
The trailer isn't that great, but i'm still looking forward to it. It's still my most anticipated movie of the year
300's trailers were perfect, and ultimately better than the film itself. They are why the film exploded at the box office.
This trailer was… not perfect.
Not the best trailer, but I'm still excited for this movie. Tarsem has the goods while Zack Snyder does not.

No racism intended, but can they really think that Frieda Ointo, an Indian actress could actually pull off Greek?
And Mickey Rourke? Great actor, awkward role.

You guys are never satisfied. It will be huge. 300 was a hit this will be even bigger hit because it opens at the end of the year
I liked it overall. It looks like a great deal of fun. The only things I'm wary of are the inspirational speech and the strange presence of Freida Pinto. Inspirational speeches are just so cliche and uninspiring nowadays. Not Cavill's fault. And Freida just seemed very bored. However, a lot of things are seen out of context in trailers, so I'll just wait. Still seeing it.
This looks great, I liked 300 and I thought Clash Of The Titans was good mindless entertainment. P.S., at 1:37, Freida Pinto looks like she'll be naked in this which makes me want to watch this.

Brad, I think you should come to the defense here, anyone who actually did their homework knows that this is not a 300 ripoff, Singh has been using this type of style and cinematography his ENTIRE career and way before Snyder did 300. This is much more like what he used in The Cell and The Fall than anything else. Its no duplicate.

Tarsem's a great visual stylist, I'm interested to see what he does with a CGI-heavy pic after he didn't use any in THE FALL.
