This is like The Shining meets The Uninvited as Universal has debuted the first trailer, a new poster and three new images for their upcoming thriller Dream House starring Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts, Rachel Weisz, Marton Csokas, Elias Koteas and Jane Alexander.

Directed by six-time Oscar nominee Jim Sheridan who is probably best known for In the Name of the Father and In America, but also brought us the lackluster 50 Cent feature Get Rich or Die Tryin', the film revolves around Craig's character, a New York publishing exec who relocates his family to a small New England town only to learn their new home was the scene of a vicious murder. I've included a lengthier synopsis below the trailer and you can also check out the poster below as well as click here to browse my gallery of images for the film.

Dream House hits theaters on September 30 and was recently edited down from an R-rating to a PG-13, so it may have some legitimate thrills.

Some say that all houses have memories. For one man, his home is the place he would kill to forget. Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz star in Dream House, a suspense thriller about a family that unknowingly moves into a home where grisly murders were committed...only to find themselves the killer's next target.

Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a high power job in Manhattan to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived.

When Will investigates, he's not sure if he's starting to see ghosts or if the tragic story is just hitting too close to home. His only clues come from Ann Paterson (Watts), a mysterious neighbor who knew those who were shot. And as Will and Ann piece together the haunting puzzle, they must find out who murdered the family in Will's dream house before he returns to kill again.

"Starring Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz" is what I clearly read from both the poster and the trailer and the synopsis as well. Why was Watts slighted again?

    Wait... What was... what?!
Very confusing trailer. I mean, they gave away a twist, and I'm sure the movie has probably more to offer than that, but still I'm not sold on what the hell this is about.

'The Shining' meets 'The Uninvited' ...........with maybe also a tinge of 'The Other's' perhaps?

I'd have to guess (or at the least hope) that THAT moment in the trailer isn't the main twist of the film (making the assumption it has one, which it looks like the sorta film that's aiming to pull something twisty off) but in fact the hook designed to make you want to go and find out what it all means.

    I dunno, I haven't lost interest...........but I haven't been sold on it totally.

I'm a bit disappointed as the trailer makes this look VERY generic, but the talent involved keeps me a little interested.

Intriguing with a definite vibe of Shutter Island, is it a simple familiar twist or well placed misdirection?

Im with you 100% on the Shutter Island comparison!

Rachel Weisz's American accent always sounds terribly fake. Saying that, Kate Winslet's US accent is crap at the best of times.

Jim Sheridan - a man who loves to give away the twist to his movies in the trailer
