First Trailer for 'Margaret' Starring Matt Damon and Anna Paquin
Hits theaters at the end of September
Filming on Kenneth Lonergan's Margaret wrapped six years ago. The titular character is played by Anna Paquin ("True Blood") who was around 23 when the film completed shooting Matt Damon will be just shy of 41 when the film hits theaters on September 30. Legal entanglements kept the film shelved until now so don't immediately write this off as a junk film the studio is dumping to get it out of the way. And considering this is a feature that uses the events of September 11th as a back-drop maybe it's for the best it hadn't seen the light of day until now and can now be seen as something of a timecapsule.
All that said, today we get our first glimpse at the film, which centers on a 17-year-old New York City high-school student (Paquin) who feels certain she inadvertently played a role in a traffic accident that has claimed a woman's life. In her attempts to set things right she meets with opposition at every step. Torn apart with frustration, she begins emotionally brutalizing her family, her friends, her teachers, and most of all, herself. She has been confronted quite unexpectedly with a basic truth: that her youthful ideals are on a collision course against the realities and compromises of the adult world.
As I said, the film hits theaters on September 30. You can check out the trailer directly below. I'd love to read your comments on what you think of it.

I'd check it out. It has a strong cast. I would be very curious to see Matt Damon's performance. I like him, but often I feel the chenistry he attempts to have with his romantic female costars feels inauthentic.
I've actually had my eye on this film for a while and this trailer makes me even more curious to see it. Anna Paquin hasn't really had a starring role in a film for years and I would really like to see her in this.
I think that looks really bad. Really corny.
This should have been released years ago and has been needlessly delayed. It has a stellar cast and shouldn’t go unnoticed by the public when it finally comes out.
love the casts however am I the only one who gets the TV movie vibe out of this trailer?
or probably because it was made 6 years ago. hurm..
I think the dispute was the studio gave the director complete control, if the movie was under 2 1/2 hours, and he turned in a three hour movie.
