Another Trailer for 'Immortals' Hopes To Lure You In

Are you still looking forward to this one or has it lost you?

If you go by The Playlist's description of some footage that premiered from Immortals over the weekend at Empire's Big Screen convention you may have already lost all interest in this film as Oliver Lyttelton writes:

Tarsem's Immortals, however, looks like kind of a train wreck. We saw an action sequence featuring Luke Evans' Zeus and his group of yellow power rangers facing off against…some…grey…things? It's cartoonishly gory in a way reminiscent of video game "God of War," immaculately framed, and deathly dull. And from the new trailer we were shown, the performances look awful; lifeless and airless.

People seemed turned off by this film from the minute that first trailer debuted and I haven't seen an uptick in interest since. Tell me, does this latest trailer change your mind or are has it simply lost your interest?

On 11/11/11, witness the 3-D epic battle as mere men become Immortals. Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares.

Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope.

Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes. Rallying a band of fellow outsiders–including visionary priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and cunning slave Stavros (Stephen Dorff) — one hero will lead the uprising, or watch his homeland fall into ruin and his Gods vanish into legend.

Two hundred million dollar flop fest. Not only does it look like a cheap video game but Henry Cavill also can't act his way out of a paper bag. Frieda Pinto is more boring than drying paint. Less than fifteen opening weekend and downhill from there.

    It still kind sucks.

At least I will laugh a lot of November 11th.

Those actors can't act or what?!

  3. JM

I still want to see this! The acting doesn't look great, but the visuals do.

I was never looking forward to this one. Looks terrible.

Very little in that trailer works for me… And quite a bit comes across as horrible. Maybe in context that ratio can be fixed, but it would take great reviews to get me into a theater to see it.

This is the best cut trailer out of the three. However the acting is very dull, and i'm not as excited for this film as I used to be. I'm still going to see it though because I am a big fan of Tarsem Singh's films.

I've enjoyed Tarsem's work thus far, specifically "The Fall", but this is only interesting me because I hope there's more to this than what we've seen. Visually there are some great things here, it's his specialty, but the acting looks sub-par and I can imagine this just turning into a giant mess.

I still hold out hope, but not a whole lot left.

at risk of sounding repetitive but in my female point of view, despite the great visuals I have to admit that I´ll get interested if Cavill and Lutz show some skin.
    period.

for a good film guess we´ll have to wait for DRIVE and CARNAGE.

I think this trailer was better than the other one. I don't know what it is, but it just looks…bleak. However, I'll still see it because a) I am a loyal Tarsem fan and b)I want to see Cavill in action on the big screen before Superman hits.

The marketing on this is starting to remind me of Green Lantern…a bunch of incomprehensible trailers with cheesy VFX, the most recent one featuring a lengthy voiceover to explain the plot that no one seems to understand. I've doubted this since the first trailer and I've seen nothing since to make me change my mind.

This looks like Zack Snyder on a budget of 20 dollars.

  12. "I have faith in you. Prove (weirdly long pause) me (another pause) right."

Was Tarsem too busy with the effects crew to concentrate on the performances?

  13. chewbaca69

    It lost me at 3d.

  14. I'm still interested, it's rather hasty to build an opinion on the reporting of others and a trailer that looks very similar to the previous one.

However the trailers have done a poor job of explaining the story and the roles each character has (what's Freida Pinto doing?)

  15. Grissom

The cheese seeps out of this at an excessive rate now

  16. Amit

A-grade Visuals….D-grade acting….the former could have been enough to save it if it had some big names…. has happened in the past…..but that not being the case here, i don't see how an average movie goer will support this…..

If you look at Google Trends for Immortals (www.google.com/trends?q=immortals+movie), the interest seems to be building nicely towards the release date.

Many said that Clash of the Titans would not generate interest at the box office, but the movie going audiences proved them wrong.

  18. Winchester

Still doesn't make me want to see it, to be honest.

  19. ENOLA

Much Better Trailer, can't wait to see it

  20. Topy

    It's a LITTLE better.
