Trailer for Will Ferrell's Spanish Language Comedy 'Casa de Mi Padre'
Actually looks quite funny
There was an MPAA rating recently for a film titled Casa de Mi Padre (House of My Father) and as one reader pointed out, it matched the title for the upcoming Will Ferrell Spanish-language comedy of the same name directed by Funny or Die regular Matt Piedmont. The problem was the production company listed by the MPAA didn't match up with anything I could find online. As it turns out, that was exactly the film that was receiving the R-rating for bloody violence, language, some sexual content and drug use.
Alongside Ferrell the film stars Diego Luna, Gael Garcia Bernal, Efren Ramirez and Genesis Rodriguez and judging by the trailer it looks like it could be quite good. The synopsis is as follows:
Armando Alvarez (Will Ferrell) has lived and worked on his father's ranch in Mexico his entire life. As the ranch encounters financial difficulties, Armando's younger brother Raul (Diego Luna), shows up with his new fiance, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez). It seems that Raul's success as an international businessman means the ranch’s troubles are over as he pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul's business dealings turn out to be less than legit, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).
Check out the trailer below. As of now I don't know of any planned release date or distributor. This seems like it would have been a perfect film to debut at the SXSW festival, so no telling what will come of it in the short term.

As of late, Will Ferrell hasn't been in anything good to me besides The Other Guys (Semi-Pro and Land of the Lost, forget them).
This might be good, considering he could be joining "The Office", not leaving much room for any movies.
I won't argue that a few of his previous films have been less than great but in each of them Will Ferrell has been hilarious. At this point I will watch anything he is in. I won't forget Land of the Lost either because it grows on me every time I watch it. He delivers so many lines perfectly it's almost impossible for me not to laugh.
Would y'all mind sourcing us on this find?
Thanks!

O.M.G. Will Ferrell is actually sounding…kind of good in this. I had no idea that this was coming out, but now I must see this. Just to see Ferrell speak in Spanish, the tongue of my forebearers! I'm a big fan of Gael Garcia Bernal. He's so under rated as an actor. He's excellent dramatically and he's hilarious, too. This looks like a winner.
Three reasons why I'll watch this:
* Gael Garcia Bernal
* Ferrel speaking Spanish
* I'm going to study abroad in Spain next semester, and I can see this coming up in a conversation or two
I'm proud to say I was that alert reader! I should get a RopeofSilicon internship! ;)
