The trailer for Wes Anderson's upcoming stop-motion animated feature The Fantastic Mr. Fox has debuted at Yahoo marking Anderson's first try in the animation field.

The film is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's story, centering on a clever fox who must outwit three mean, dimwitted farmers who try their hardest to hurt Mr. Fox and his family. George Clooney voices Mr. Fox, with Meryl Streep voicing his wife.

Will the film be a contender for Best Animated Feature? Give the trailer a watch directly below or in high-definition at Yahoo and decide for yourself.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox will be released by Fox Searchlight on November 13. Also part of the voice cast are Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Willem Dafoe, Helen McCrory, Owen Wilson, Brian Cox and Adrien Brody.

Everything about this trailer is just right. Looks absolutely magical and hilarious. Wish November were coming sooner.

Leave it to me Wes Anderson to do something completly different… Can't wait

    @Aakash:

I agree, I'm really digging his take on this story.

That being said, I feel that it'll not do well box-office wise. It kinda looks like a kid's film, but it sure as hell is missing the cute animation & the pop culture references that plague the "Shrek" rip-offs of today. Unfortunately that's what the kids are into (see: "G-Force" opening to $31 million this past weekend). Anderson fans are psyched, definitely, but adults think it's a kid's film. Kids don't think it's a kid's film, and everyone else will probably ignore it.

This looks amazing. I hope this movie turns out to be a huge success.

I thought Cate Blanchett was replaced with Meryl Streep as the Voice of Mrs Fox ?

@LJF: And you would be correct. My mistake.

    November will be awesome!

    This looks simply fantastic.

It looks like The Royal Tenenbaums meets Ocean's Eleven, with stop-motion animation. The trailer isn't fantastic (pun very much intended), but it did blow my mind on several levels. Plus I loved this book when I was a kid, so I'm there.

    Woww… this looks HORRIBLE

    Wes Anderson is a genius!

  12. Patricia

@Hohn C.: Agreed. Wallace and Gromit made this look easy. But this is seriously awful.

@Patricia and @Hohn C.: Completely disagree… I smell an editorial on the way explaining why…

@Brad Brevet: Can't wait to be enlightened.

  15. I do love a good editorial explaining why…

When I heard Wes Anderson was doing an animated film, I couldn't imagine what it would look like. Turns out it would look like a Wes Anderson film. I'm looking forward to seeing something different.

wow, some of the ugliest animation I've seen in a long time. They r going with this old school touch, but it just doesnt work for me. I'm gonna be renting this one at best.
