Watch out for the scary spaceship movie

Overture Films has debuted the trailer for director Christian Alvart's Pandorum which is set to hit theaters on September 4 and stars Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster and Cam Gigandet.

The film comes from the creators of the "Resident Evil" film franchise and centers on two crew members who wake up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they've been asleep, or what their mission is. The two soon discover they're actually not alone — and the reality of their situation is more horrifying than they could have imagined.

Strangely enough, while the name Christian Alvart may be unfamiliar to most right now it wouldn't be had his Paramount thriller Case 39 actually been released already as it was supposed to be. That film stars Renee Zellweger and Jodelle Ferland as an abused little girl who is saved by Zellweger's character only to discover the girl is not as innocent as she thinks. That film must not be all that good considering it bounced around the release schedule and currently sits without a release date at all.

However, it looks like things are full steam ahead with Pandorum, check out the trailer below and click here for a couple of stills.

Wow. Yet another "empty spaceship" movie. No doubt it will be dark and claustrophobic so as to 'amp up' the horror element. Is there no other way to make sci-fi horror than using this tired plot device?

(sorry for sounding so negative, I just got through watching Event Horizon the other night)

Did you WATCH the trailer? The ship did not look "empty" to me. Looks good too me.

This looks simply awful. Just unscary, predictable sludge. Won't be seeing it.
