Well folks, as if Marmaduke wasn't enough, Hollywood is ready to bring you The Karate Kid remake starring Jaden Smith, Jackie Chan and Taraji P. Henson and Yahoo has just debuted the first trailer for your viewing pleasure.
The official synopsis tells us the film, scripted by Michael Soccio and directed by Harald Zwart (Agent Cody Banks), centers on 12-year-old Dre Parker (Smith). He could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying – and the feeling is mutual – but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, and kung fu prodigy, Cheng. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.
The trailer can be seen directly below or you can watch it in high definition at Yahoo.
The Karate Kid hits theaters on June 11, 2010. For more information and our gallery of four images click here.

You'd think they'd figure out the difference between chinese and japanese by now. Karate is a japanese martial art, so why the heck is this set in china?
wow, that could be the be the worst trailer ever, i feel dirty after watching it
Man, they should have gone with a different title for this crap of a movie…
karate is a japanese word, but the martial art is influenced by martial arts done in china. it is kind of confusing since the original movies were about a japanese sensei from Okinawa. from the trailer, the style of fighting looks more chinese martial art based.
Man am I like the only person in the world that can still dig a good Jackie Chan movie once in a while? This Movies looks like it will be an enjoyable little flick. People act like the originals were "Art." This trailer has sold me. Day one I will be there to watch this movie. Glad to see Jackie Chan not bubbling around like an idiot anymore. Don't MENTION the spy next dorr, i prefer to act like that movie doesn't exist.
I never believed that the karate kid could ever be remade…so movies just should not be touched after they are done, this is one of them. Looks pretty bad
damn why would they remake this i mean itd be done sometime but in my lifetime why this was crap i loved jackie chan movies untill 2003 but now all he does is crap hope atleast he isnt bad in this
This looks horrible.
I think Jayden Smith was miscasted. It looks like Jackie is teaching a 9 year old karate. They couldn't made the karate kid at least 17?
I didn't think it was as bad as some of you are making it out to be. Granted it looks like it will be no where nearly as good as the original, but it still looks like something I wouldn't mind watching once it hits HBO or Showtime. And I'll admit, I chuckled at the last part where Jackie Chan swats the fly.
Pat Morita is doing crane kicks in his grave.
The A-Team and Get Him to the Greek will kick this film's ass!
Despite what you detractors say i liked the trailer and i'll be willing to give the movie a shot when it comes out.
Poor Jackie Chan his career is OVER
Wow that was horrific.
there is no god.
Essentially "Karate Kid 5" I thought 1 and 2 were amazing, 3 was pretty good and so was 4. Don't look at it as a remake; look at it as another installment.
Though I am somewhat appalled by the overuse of rap in this movie. I mean really do they ever stop putting rap in moves that it doesn't belong in?
This movie looks so bad, I think I will walk in front of traffic.
I've only seen the next karate kid so I think I'm a target audience, it looks alright, i actually do karate and I'm not 100% sure if that is all strictly karate. It looks interesting though albeit cliche, but than again I imagine so were the originals. I'll give it a chance.
deffinitly not a karate kid movie !
Um, why is this titled "The Karate Kid" when Chan teaches Smith wushu/kung fu? Does Columbia Pictures think that American audiences are not smart enough to know the difference?
Honestly, why so much hate. It is a remake and that is the way of the world. Prior to passing judgement please let us at least watch it. Personally I thought the original was only appealing to one set of people. This may not appeal to the masses but I know one demographic that will support this movie fully. Martial Arts are subjective and not solely the baliwick of one country. I study Aikido and am from an island. My form and style is unique based on where I was born and raised. Karate can be merged with other arts to create one unique to this movie. Let us also remember it is a movie for entertainment.
u guys r jus hatin…jus shup up..i think that the movie will turn out to b,gud and what if it does'nt.?they spent time workin on diz movie and all u guys r jus hatin..y don't u jus make s remake of the movie and lets c how it turns out. yea thats what i,thought. if u don't got nuttin nice to don't freckin say it at all
Okay, maybe this is not the original "Karate Kid," but think of it this way, it is a new "Karate Kid" for our children. I have seen the originals and loved them but this looks fun and updated.
