Coming some time in October

I recently finished reading Stieg Larsson's "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and I'm about 160 pages into "The Girl Who Played with Fire" in hopes of being able to get through the third book in the series before The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest hits theaters in October, but I can tell you right now that's not going to happen. While the books are very quick reads, Toronto afforded me the opportunity for far more time to read than my day-to-day life does. However, I will be sure to check out The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest regardless, as the first book in the trilogy has already proven, a lot has been left out of the films and the books have plenty to offer.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest hits theaters on either October 15, October 27 or October 29 depending on whether you believe the official site, Box Office Mojo or IMDB, because this newly released trailer only says "This Fall" giving us no clear indication.

The film is the final installment in the "Millenium trilogy," of which David Fincher is already set to direct an American remake of the first book in the series with Rooney Mara (The Social Network) set to stars as the title character, Lisbeth Salander, played here in the original Swedish adaptation by Noomi Rapace who just landed her first English language role as the female villain in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes 2.

In Hornet's Nest, the film begins with Lisbeth in intensive care and charged with three murders. Throughout the film she'll have to prove her innocence and identify and denounce those corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Up to this point the films have been quite good and I'm excited to see how it all concludes. You can check out the new trailer directly below and click here to browse the RopeofSilicon gallery of eight images from the film.

  1. The third installment is pretty good. Its better than the second one, yet for some reason it just doesn't match the caliber of the first film. I think it has to do with being a number THREE where the first film kind of spawned out of nowhere.

  2. Eric

I don't think Rooney Mara is in 127 Hours. That's her sister Kate.
