TOP TEN: Sexiest Movie Couples
They get you hot and they get you bothered
| Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof |
If Grace Kelly is my number one, Elizabeth Taylor (in her prime) is my number two. Sure, Liz has gone so far downhill since she was the Liz we saw in such films as Giant, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Cleopatra, but that doesn't mean we can't remember her for what she was. Teaming up with Paul Newman makes them the #1 movie couple of all-time and I hope I don't get a lot of grief for the placement.
Newman was an absolute pimp in his heyday and while most people nowadays may think of him as the old man on the side of spaghetti sauce and salad dressing jars he truly had the ladies creaming when he hit the scene in films such as The Hustler and especially Cool Hand Luke. Teaming up with Elizabeth Taylor in 1958 makes the two of them the easy choice for me.
This list was truly hard for me to make so I felt I really should include an Honorable Mention to let you know some of the names that were sitting on the outside looking in. One that pained me to leave it out was Kerry Washington and Jamie Foxx from Ray, only because Kerry Washington is one of the hottest actresses out there right now, but Foxx as Ray Charles I thought made it a tough add. Too bad Washington is underused because on top of being gorgeous I also think she is talented.
Based on the Honorable Mention alone I think you can see just how different this top ten could have been.
- Kerry Washington and Jamie Foxx in Ray
- Charlize Theron and Keanu Reeves in The Devil's Advocate
- Ashley Judd and Matthew McConaughey in A Time to Kill
- Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman
- Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean
- Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman in Underworld: Evolution
- Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock in Speed
- Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain
- Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in Blow
- Johnny Depp and Charlize Theron in The Astronaut's Wife
- Jessica Alba and Paul Walker in Into the Blue
- Ryan Reynolds and Isla Fisher/Rachel Weisz/Elizabeth Banks in Definitely, Maybe
- Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas in Desperado
- Gerard Butler and Lena Heady in 300
- Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic
- Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in The Fountain
- Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh in A Streetcar Named Desire
- Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca
- Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek in Desperado
- Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes in Romeo + Juliet
I know there are some that I missed so please enlighten me and don't be too harsh… I did the best I could.

You must have really wanted to add Desperado because you have it twice in your honorable mention list. ;)
Seriously, though, I have to give you props because of your final two. I would have reversed them (Cary Grant is the sexiest movie star of all time, all time I say! :) ) but how can I complain when I actually agree with you for once? It's fairly odd, I must say.
I would have had Casablanca on the list, as well as Romeo & Juliet, but overall this is nicely done. And you simply cannot go wrong with Newman, Taylor, Grant and Kelly. You just can't!
(I probably would have added Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis, too, for Witness. Their scenes together are just downright electric!)
1) Rick Blaine and Ilsa Lund "Casablanca"
2) Remy & Ann "The Big Easy"
3) Noah & Allie "The Notebook" (best kiss too)
4) Elizabeth Bennett & Mr. Darcy "Pride and Prejudice"
5) Violet & Corky "Bound"
6) Ennis & Jack "Brokeback Mountain" (Runner up for best kiss)
7) Jim & Claudie "Magnolia"
8) Jack & Rose "Titanic"
9) Wesley and Buttercup "The Princess Bride"
10) Sam & Molly "Ghost"
I would have had Casablanca on the list, as well as Romeo & Juliet, but overall this is nicely done.
