Tom Cruise Week Continues with 'The Tourist'
Damn, this guy has found a way to dominate the news lately
Tom Cruise is fantastic in Tropic Thunder. His next film Valkyrie got bumped back into 2008. His production partner Paula Wagner is leaving United Artists. He will no longer star in Edwin A. Salt as the script is being rewritten for Angelina Jolie to take his place. Finally, he may be starring in a comedy called Food Fight. However, that's not the end of it.
Variety is now reporting Cruise is being courted to star in the Bharat Nalluri-directed remake of the 2005 French thriller The Tourist. The Variety piece says Cruise decided against starring in Edwin A. Salt and I can only assume that's because he would have had to undergo gender re-assignment surgery in order for it to work. What a load of hooey.
Julian Fellowes penned the thriller in which Cruise would star as an American tourist who finds his life in danger when a female Interpol agent uses him as a dupe to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair.
The article does say this is by no means a done deal though as Cruise is being careful about which film he takes on next.

I actually believe the story of him deciding against starring in Salt. It was the script. It was reported over a month ago that he had problems with the script because of the Ethan Hunt similarities.
