Time to Find the 'Land of the Lost'
Studios sure are prepping for that strike
How many long gestating films are we going to hear about getting greenlit in the coming month as the Writers Guild aims at a premptive strike to thwart the studio's plans to declare their strike moot? Along with a fourth Terminator, Thundercats and Justice League, it is time a comedy flick that has been talked about forever get in the mix as Universal greenlights Land of the Lost starring Will Ferrell with a March start date planned. The deciding factor in the move was apparently due to the production budget being cut from $125 million to $100 million. Probably a good move after the disappointing $160 million Evan Almighty.
Brad Silberling is set to direct the adaptation of the television show revolving around a disgraced paleontologist, his assistant and a macho tour guide who find themselves in a strange world inhabited by dinosaurs, monkey people and reptilian Sleestaks. For $100 million I wonder if they will get actual Sleestaks! Oh boy! At one point Kirsten Dunst and Jack Black were also attached to star.
Chris Henchy and Dennis McNicholas scripted the pic.
