A fantastical creature with wings that smell of snow, Xas turns out to be an unconventional mentor. And would you mind deleting my previous post?

  5. Saw The Damned United last week, good time indeed. Solid acting, sharp dialogue, well done narrative. Nothing to write home about a good time indeed.

You know that I agreed to withhold pre-judgement from "Agora" and "Young Victoria" and I'm going to keep my promises. "Dorian Gray" looks a little to cheesecake. I mean, it's supposed to be shocking that he has sex with a black woman? But it could just be another victim of a poorly conceived trailer, which is becoming all too common nowadays. "Fish Tank" had raves from Cannes. A little reminiscent of "Somersault" ? However, I'm not a big fan of plots full mother/daughter screaming at each other, something "Somersault" avoided.

I don't know what to think about "The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus." Ordinarily this kind of film is right up my alley. I'm certainly not going to see it for Heath Ledger. He looks rather beaten in the clips I've seen and it's too sad to know that he was in the process of slowly killing himself during the filming. I haven't read much praise for this but I'll probably see it and judge for myself.

"Jennifer's Body"? No way. And I've made a vow after "Knowing" to never watch another Nic Cage film again so "Bad Lieutenant" is off my radar.

Andrea Arnold's Fish Tank is a must see, the reviews and prizes are greatly deservered. Fine performances from the established stars Michael Fassbender,Kirsten Wareing and Harry Treadaway, but Andrea Arnold has the nack of discovering raw talent, Katie Jarvis is a brilliant find, along with Rebbecca Griffiths, very comical and Charlotte Collins, enemy and match to Jarvis, finding these girls from Essex England makes Fish Tank a raw and naturalistic story of life through an adolesant eye. Cannot wait to it hits the cinema's Stateside, so they may see life is hard but hopeful in the UK too.

Has no one seen Leaves of Grass at TIFF?
