Thurman and Brosnan Line Up as Greek Gods for 'Percy Jackson'
Sean Bean, Kevin McKidd and Melina Kanakerides also attached to star
Fox has pieced together a little ensemble cast of Greek Gods for their fantasy adventure Percy Jackson for director Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and Sorceror's Stone). Already signed on are Uma Thurman as Medusa, Pierce Brosnan as Chiron, Sean Bean as Zeus, Kevin McKidd as Poseidon and Melina Kanakerides as Athena. Joining them are Logan Lerman and Brandon Jackson with the roles of Aries, Hades and Persephone still left to be cast.
The film centers on Poseidon's 12-year-old half-human son (Lerman), who embarks on a quest across modern-day America to save his mother, return Zeus' stolen lightning bolt and prevent a deadly war between the gods. Based on the book by Rick Riordon.
Plan is to begin filming next month in Vancouver, with the studio setting a February 12, 2010 release date.
Coming out in July, Columbus most recently directed I Love You Beth Cooper starring Hayden Panettiere.

Wasn't Uma Thurman Venus in Baron Munchausen? What a leap from Medusa to Venus. :P
This sounds quite original. I'm quite interested.
Well, at least it's not a remake or a video game/comic book script.
@andreavenge: Well Medusa was beautiful in the stories, not the ugly "Clash of the Titan's" version that we're more accustomed to. So as far as looks are concerned, it's not that much of a leap…but as far as power and rankings between the two, definitely.
I just finished reading the first 4 books, and I totally fell in love with it! :) I think they will make a wonderful movie franchise, and I can't wait to read the final 5th book. I think the actors for the Gods are a pretty good choice. *nods* Best of luck Chris Columbus! ^_~v
a bit unimportant, but it's supposed to be "riordan".
i have read all 4 books and im halfway through with the 5th.
the gods are a pretty good choice, but since you dont have a hades you should think about goin with vin diesel. he has a dark side and a deep voice for the role. it would be perfect. and for the role of persephone, megan fox wouldnt be too bad, cause she has that bad side too.
