Deadline Hollywood once again offers up more Thor casting, this time announcing "The Gathering Storm" star Tom Hiddleston will play the film's villain Loki.
Just yesterday Deadline announced Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) would star as the blonde-tressed, hammer-wielding title character in the film to be directed by Kenneth Branagh. Thor is based on the Marvel comic of the same name and follows the titular hero who was sent to Earth to protect mankind.
Loki, according to Marvel, is the son of Laufey, king of the frost giants of Jotunheim, one of the "Nine Worlds" of the Asgardian cosmology. Following Laufey's death and because Loki was the son of a king fallen in battle, Odin, ruler of Asgard, elected to adopt him and raise him as a son alongside his blood son Thor, the future god of thunder.
Hiddleston is a name I am sure most of you don't recognize, but he is an actor that has already spent some time with Branagh on the Longdon stage in "Ivanov" and then in the BBC mini-series Wallander.
Thor is already set for a May 20, 2011 release.

Could someone tell Marvel they don't have to make a movie about every superhero they have in the vault? Soon for every "Iron Man" we'll get a "Punisher".
This is going to be good.
I can feel it.
Steve look, its either stuff like this, or more Spider-Man sequels. I don't know if I could handle another Spider-Man shitfest breaking box office records.
i agree with steve, they are over doing it with the whole avengers thing, besides every other graphic novel is being made into a movie, see what happened with the spirit? i bombed. 90 's were the best times for action movie fans, when originality, and creativity mattered, but now you are the mercy of comic book movies, and unncessary reboots.
