Thompson and Gambon Join 'Brideshead Revisited'
Miramax picks up domestic rights to adaptation
Variety is reporting that Emma Thompson and Michael Gambon are joining Brideshead Revisited which is being directed by Julian Jarrold. Miramax Films just picked up North American rights to the picture which also stars Ben Whishaw, Matthew Goode and Hayley Atwell.
The film is an adaptation of Evelyn Waugh's classic novel is now fully financed to start shooting in June on location in Yorkshire, Oxford, Venice and Morocco.
The film is set in the years before World War II, when Oxford student Charles Ryder gets entangled with a seductive but troubled family of Anglo-Catholic aristocrats.
Whishaw plays the alcoholic Sebastian Flyte, and Atwell his enigmatic sister Julia, between whom Charles (Goode) is caught in a forbidden love triangle. Gambon will play their father, the dissolute patriarch Lord Marchmain, and Thompson his estranged yet controlling wife.
