This Weekend at the Movies: July 30, 2010
'Get Low' finds four theaters and some other stuff is releasing as well

| It's been almost a year to the day since Get Low started earning buzz after its premiere at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival, and here we are and little of that buzz has gone away. Robert Duvall will be getting an Oscar nomination for his performance here and at this point it is his to lose. I just posted my B+ review of the film, which you can read right here. Along with Duvall this film boasts excellent contributions from the likes of Bill Murray, Lucas Black, Sissy Spacek and Bill Cobbs. It's definitely a film worth checking out. It's only opening in four theaters this weekend, but you can click here to see when it will be heading your way as it will begin to expand on August 6. This film is rated PG-13 for some thematic material and brief violent content. | |

| Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore |

| I didn't go see this movie, because what is the point? It's about talking cats and dogs. If this is your kind of film you are going regardless of what anyone says. This film is rated PG for animal action and humor. | |

| Dinner for Schmucks |

| This is not a good movie. Not by a long shot. However, I did get a couple of laughs and my favorite scene is included below. There was one more scene that made me laugh, but it isn't online. I guess you could buy a ticket to laugh twice, but that just seems like a waste of money, especially since I am giving you one laugh for free right now. This film is rated PG-13 for sequences of crude and sexual content, some partial nudity and language. | |

| I would have gone to this screening, but timing and location failed me. However, it is always cracks me up when people talk about this film, such as in the video I included below in which some guy named "Kingsley" refers to it as the movie in which Zac Efron plays baseball with his dead brother. The frankness of his delivery and the contempt he seems to have for the film (but mostly the song "Airplanes") puts me in hysterics, but beware, the "Kingsley" video is very much not safe for work. This film is rated PG-13 for language including some sexual references, an intense accident scene and some sensuality. | |

| This little documentary seems like it could be interesting, but it hasn't screened in Seattle yet. I did get an invite for some screenings in Los Angeles, but that seemed a bit too far to go for a movie screening. This film is rated PG-13 for brief language and nudity. | |

| The Concert |

| I have heard this film is good, but man-oh-man does this trailer make it look cheesy. "The janitor has 2 weeks to get the band back together. Will they make it? Wack-a-doo!" This film is rated PG-13 for brief strong language and some sexual content. | |
