Choose 'Youth in Revolt' over the rest
| Leap Year |
| Thanks to a Bing search Leap Year is the number one movie on the site at the moment and I would love to be there when the interested masses see this movie. It is awful. It's one of those films Manhola Dargis sharpens her knives over, take for example this line from the synopsis: "Investing in an Irish tradition that allows women to propose to men on February 29th, Anna decides to follow her boyfriend Jeremy (Adam Scott) to Dublin and get down on one knee herself." All the ladies in the audience, what do you think about the convenience of a day that comes around once every four years that allows you to propose to a man? Pretty snazzy deal eh? Just remember, to take advantage of it you have to fly to Dublin to do it. For the full report check out my review fo the film right here. This film is rated PG for sensuality and language. | |
| Daybreakers |
| Crazy on the Outside |
| It's getting 74 theaters and the big draw… it's Tim "The Tool Man" Allen's directorial debut. I know, you are praying one of those 74 theaters is near you. Well guess what, I've got just the thing for you; a handy dandy theater guide. I will say this, Tim Allen was trying hard to promote this one here in Seattle. He even did a stand-up act before a screening. Unfortunately I couldn't make it, but that's putting in some work. This film is rated PG-13 for sexual content and language. | |
| Youth in Revolt |
| You've probably already seen Avatar and Sherlock Holmes so my recommendation is to give Youth in Revolt some of your hard earned cash, and while I have included the trailer below I recommend you don't watch it and go in as fresh as you can (a personal recommendation for all films by the way). I reviewed the film right here and I also spoke with Michael Cera and that interview can be read right here. This film is rated R for sexual content, language and drug use. | |

I think you should see Daybreakers in the theater. I was interested on your review for that.
Saw Daybreakers yesterday, it was pretty good movie, though its second half was incoherent and had some unnecessary characters/subplots. Still, it was pretty stylish, original, had some decent scares and action, Sam Neill was the epitome of cool and Dafoe was badass as hell. I agree with adu, you should give it a shot.
I saw "Youth in Revolt" weeks ago and loved it. Not only a funny and sweet comedy, but a memorable one as well. I need to give it another go, but I'd say solid B+
"Daybreakers" is terrible. I think it started out well and then lost steam and then went over the edge into Horridnessland at the finale. C- all the way for me.
"Leap Year"…well, I didn't like it at all, but I didn't loathe it entirely like you, Brad. To give it credit, I thought Amy Adams was great, but WAY too good for the material which is DOA. C- for me.
Daybreakers really is the movie to see this weekend. It's an all around kick-ass entertaining movie. Go see it, everyone. I think you'll have a great time.
re Revolting Youth: If I have to see one more coming of age movie that does not involve an A list actor/actress, I am going to go out on my balcony and SCREAM!…and not in a good way.
