Do the Right Thing (20th Anniversary Edition)
There is only one title to buy this week and it begins and ends with Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing as Universal has put together an impressive package with a brand new commentary from Spike, a brand new retrospective documentary created by Spike himself and 11 newly discovered deleted scenes.

I haven't explored all the features yet, but I did watch the film on Blu-ray and it is remarkable. The last time I watched this film it was from Netflix and it was a non-anamorphic version and of no particular quality. Watching it on Blu-ray was like seeing it for the first time. I also took the time to listen to Lee's new commentary, which was just as good as I expected it would be. I have always thought Lee's commentaries were quality, primarily due to his ego something I think is necessary for a quality commentary from a director. You need to appreciate your work so you can tell others about it and what you did and what your intentions were. Occasionally I think Lee allows his mouth to get him into some trouble, but for the most part I think he is incredible to listen to and what better movie than this one?

Now, just a couple of quick vids from the film. The first one is a comparison between one scene in Do the Right Thing, which Spike lifted directly from Charles Laughton's The Night of the Hunter and the second is simply one of my favorite scenes from the film, at least my favorite comical scene in which Frank Vincent plays Charlie and gets his car drenched. The best part comes when he's being questioned by the cops and says (sarcastically) their names were "Moe and Joe." When asked for their last name he says, "Moe and Joe what? Moe and Joe what?! Moe and Joe Black. How's that?" To which Officer Ponte played by Miguel Sandoval says, "They're brothers sir?" Classic stuff… and then you get Ossie Davis's classic line, "Those that'll tell don't know and those that know won't tell." Vincent has a comical line after that too. Really good stuff.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (Unleashed and Unrated)
Fox didn't screen this one for critics and the review copy I was sent was a single-sided burned DVD copy with a picture that looks like it has been compressed for YouTube. So I didn't even bother since the studio obviously doesn't care enough about it.

12 Rounds (Extreme Cut)
Go figure, Fox didn't screen this one either and it is so good they didn't even send a burned copy for review. I have seen a lot of fanboy sites shilling free copies so you may want to do a quick search and perhaps you can get this one and not have to spend a dime.

Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience
I don't know anything about the Jonas Brothers and have actually never heard a single song and haven't even watched the trailer for this movie. When Disney sent me the Blu-ray I handed it off to Sara who was also in the same boat, but she reviewed it and came out relatively unscathed and said the fans should enjoy it. Check her review out right here.

Two Lovers
I never saw this film, but it got good reviews when it was released (83% at RottenTomatoes) and a RopeofSilicon reader hit me up on Twitter saying, "I really connected to it, and loved it personally." Perhaps this is one to toss in the Netflix queue or blind buy if you are a Paltrow or Phoenix fan.

I have never seen 12 rounds and I dont really want to, but I do think it would have atleast looked like a MUCH better movie if they did some better casting for it.
