Zombieland
I presume this will be the one film most people rush out to buy, and it is indeed an entertaining movie, but I can't say I am all that interested in revisiting it.
Buy Zombieland
The House of the Devil
I don't know what it is about this film that scared anyone, but outside of a single gunshot I was bored out of my mind for an hour and then watched as director Ti West rushed the ending. You can read my short theatrical review here, but I can't recommend you buy this one.

However, I will point out the pic at the bottom of the image to the left is of a DVD/VHS combo set. Who is going to buy that? Is that just an attempt to try and sell this as a legit throwback film? Anyone planning on dusting off the VCR out there? Do you even still own a VCR?

Buy The House of the Devil
The Wolf Man (1941) (2-Disc Special Edition)
Now this is a solid film. Not because it's scary, but just because it's a good story. As for this special edition anyone that already owns the original Legacy Series release and/or recently purchased The Mummy Legacy edition (my review here) already owns pretty much everything on this release. On top of that, the Legacy version also has Werewolf of London, Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man and She-Wolf of London. Admittedly, the Legacy release is $7 more, but I think it's worth it. click here to choose between the two.

Amelia
Almost forgot about this film didn't yah? Well, now you can as this is likely to be the last we hear of it.

Ong Bak 2: The Beginning
Not necessarily a good movie, but a fun movie nonetheless. Definitely a rental though. Oh, and if you didn't do it already, watch the teaser trailer for Ong Bak 3 right here

More Than a Game
I haven't watched this yet, but I'm interested in giving it a look. Heard it wasn't half-bad.

Love Happens
Now this I heard was terrible. I let a friend borrow my DVD review copy and it was promptly returned with a look that did not say kind things, and a mouth that said what the face couldn't. Apparently this may be one to just skip. I did.

Adam
This movie isn't terrible, but it is one of the prime examples of how too much acoustic guitar and song lyrics can ruin a movie. This thing gets so sappy by the end you are practically drenched in the sickly sweetness of it all. I could never sit through this movie again.

Catalog Blu-ray
An absolute onslaught of catalog Blu-ray titles are being released today, many of which (the Warner titles) are priced at $14.99 with the most expensive of the bunch being Paramount's The Godfather single-disc release at $23.99. Below is a list of all the films that will come up for purchase if you press the Buy Now link. Have a look, click the link and see if anything is worth your dollar.

Casablanca, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Gangs of New York (Remastered), Maid in Manhattan, Mona Lisa Smile, Mystic River, The Last King of Scotland, The Music Man, To Live and Die in L.A., The Godfather (Coppola Restoration), The Godfather: Part II (Coppola Restoration), An American in Paris, Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior, Amadeus, Gigi, Pan's Labyrinth, The Departed, Unforgiven, Million Dollar Baby, Training Day, Bonnie and Clyde, March of the Penguins and Walk the Line

Also Million Dollar Baby is already out on blu-ray as well!
Not sure if they have just added more extras

Wow, Jean-Claude Van Damme AND Dulph Lundgren returned for another Universal Soldier? lol

  4. beautifulm

House of the Devil was the best Horror film in 2009 and it got better reviews than Paranormal Activity. lol.

  5. Hollstar

I wondered if there was anything added to the Wolf Man Legacy Collection, but I guess I'll stick with the one I have. I probably will snatch up The Mummy, though!

  6. Vince (Not Vance)

Buying "Zombieland" a wee bit later- it's a bit too expensive on Blu-Ray at the moment. I only jump when a movie's $20 or less.

Definitely want to rent "House of the Devil" and "Ong Bak 2". I'm actually convincing myself that I want that DVD/VHS combo of "Devil". Why would I want a VHS?

Why WOULDN'T I want one, that's the real question here.

The Music Man on Blue-Ray. Completely happy about that. One of my favorite movies of all time!!

  8. JoeJoe

Where is the 1993 version of Gettysburg? I want my Blue-Ray Home Theatre to explode with the sound of cannon fire. Do you think Warner is just waiting for the 20th anniversary?
