Universal has debuted the first trailer for This is 40, Judd Apatow's "sort-of" sequel to Knocked Up bringing back Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann as Pete and Debbie and simply presenting a comedy dealing with their current state of life. The film co-stars a healthy supporting cast including Megan Fox, John Lithgow, Iris Apatow, Maude Apatow, Melissa McCarthy, Robert Smigel, Charlene Yi and Albert Brooks, but there is no mention of Seth Rogen or Katherine Heigl, the stars of the first film.

This is 40 hits theaters on December 21. You can watch the trailer directly below.

Anyone else surprised they got away with including the scene involving that screen capture above?

I guess you can't technically see anything................I dunno.

In terms of the film I guess it (once again for a trailer) just left me kind of feeling nothing either way. But there's time to decide. I guess I'm more curious as to whether there will be a secret Rogen/Heigl cameo somewhere. Which probably says all that's needed to about 'This is Forty'.

I think it looks pretty excellent, the crowd enjoyed the trailer when it hit before Five-Year Engagement. Looking forward to this.

Looks like a Apatow is trying for dramedy again. He had it perfectly in the first 2/3 of Funny People but then it went off the rails. Hopefully this time he can keep it on track and maybe score himself an Oscar nom? Maybe Rudd too?
