'The Tourist' Now Looks to Team Up Jolie and Depp
From Cruise and Theron to Depp and Jolie
Wow, the production of The Tourist is quite the bumpy ride as recently announced director Florian von Donnersmarck and Tom Cruise replacement and Avatar star, Sam Worthington, have both left the production citing creative differences leaving Angelina Jolie all on her own… at least for a brief moment as Variety is now reporting Johnny Depp is in talks to fill in for Worthington and star alongside Jolie in the now director-less thriller.
Should things work out, Depp would play an American tourist drawn into a web of intrigue and danger by a female Interpol agent (Jolie) as she attempts to locate a criminal who was once her lover.
With the director's chair wide open, Variety's Mike Fleming reports there are names already circling the project, including Children of Men helmer Alfonso Cuaron.
At one point this was a film with Bharat Nalluri directing Tom Cruise and Charlize Theron, which then had Cruise being replaced by Worthington, Nalluri dropped off, followed by Jolie replacing Theron, which is when von Donnersmarck filled in for the vacated director's chair.
The film is slated to begin production in February for Graham King's GK Films. If Depp signs on I can only wonder what this means for films such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, The Lone Ranger and the proposed team-up with Tim Burton for Dark Shadows. I guess time will only tell.

Johnny Depp + Angelina Jolie in a film together = I will be in theatres on opening night!! :)
Depp is a better pic than Cruise and Worthington anyways. Cant wait if the film ever gets made
Angelina seems to like snapping up the films Tom Cruise drops. :D I'm not complaining. I love her to death!
Jolie, Depp and Cuaron? I'm in, I don't even care about the premise of the movie, this is a great cast!
I do think Theron is a better actress, but Angelina Jolie is a better leading lady. She's got the charisma, she's not just an actress, she feels the picture with her presence and that's something always positive.
And I take over Depp over Cruise in just about anything! Even Mission Impossible! =P
Cuaron is also a great director, so things are looking promising!

Johnny has so LOVELY and talentful and artistic PLUS the most beautiful wife and woman already, why there is this kind of discussion around this film? I like Angelina also, but I just want to say my opinion from the this side of view. Mr Depp sure knows what HE wants and has, he is one of the best actors and public people in the world, in style and all.
that is not true. angie and jonny make a great couple no matter what, and johnny depp's wife is hideous, and he is having problems with his wife in the first place.

I love Johnny Depp and I love Angelina Jolie! This is going to be one of the movies I'm going to see on opening night!!!! but dang it… 2011? That's a LONG time!!!
