The Rock Eyes a Return to Action Films
It's about time, but did it have to be this cliched story?
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson entered Hollywood as an action star with many believing he may be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger, so much so he had something of a hand-off moment in a club scene in The Rundown. However, since that time Johnson has had a couple of action movies, but recently he has resigned himself to more family oriented features such as The Game Plan, Race to Witch Mountain and the upcoming Fox feature, Tooth Fairy. Well, it looks like that is about to change as he has been cast in the revenge feature, Faster, for CBS Films.
Johnson will star as an ex-con bent on avenging the death of his brother, murdered 10 years earlier when the two were double-crossed during a heist. Okay, so it's an action film, but boy does this sound like a tired storyline.
Faster will re-team Johnson with his Gridiron Gang director Phil Joanou with a script penned by Joe and Tony Gayton.
Filming is set to begin in August.

this guy and vin diesel had a great shot at making it big as the action superstars of my gen, well im 20,,,,sooo,,,,but they screwed up soo bad, that its not even funny,,,let alone their performances, but the type of directors and projects they chose to work with is soo awful, that i dont know how you can come back from that. because of their not stepping up to the plate after guys like arnold, stallone, and bruce willis took a back seat, we had to endure infinite number of unnecessary sequels, prequels, and comic books adaptations since the dawn of 2000. i dearly miss the good ole actioners of the 90's. there is no creativity left in hollywood, atleast not in the action movies.
About time! Enough of the Disney movies, Rock!
I'll be glad to see dwayne johnson in an action movie again. I hope we get to see some body in this one. I say show it while you've got it. You can do disney movies later on.
I was hoping The Rock was going to get in on some of the Marvel movies but apparently in his attempt to become a respected actor, he lost track of what got him there. Sometimes you got to get a Scorpion King for every Raging Bull type movies and at the end of the day do walk away knowing that you did your best to make this movie good. I'm not saying to do an Attack of the Killer Tomatoes but if it's an action movie with a decent plot, who cares if you just did one a month before.
