The Poster for 'The Last Exorcism 2' Makes It Seem Like a Spoof Movie

Just when you thought the last exorcism was the last exorcism there is another one

1.) "The second coming." (Okay, maybe it's a porn parody)

2.) "The Last Exorcism Part II" (Is that an oxymoron?)

3.) The way the girl bends into a "2" (See point #1)

4.) The fact the original subtitle was "Beginning of the End"

The Last Exorcism was not very good, but thankfully the title suggested there wouldn't be anymore. After all, after the last exorcism you can't have another one, because it was the last one. That is unless you're a casting director and you manage to find another actress that can bend into a variety of backward positions, which is exactly the case when it comes to The Last Exorcism Part II where the action moves to Thailand and a drug-running monkey kisses Ken Jeong's private parts.

Directed by Ed Gass-Donnelly and starring Ashley Bell, whom I assume is the bendy girl in the poster below, the film will hit theaters on March 1. Here's the plot followed by the poster:

Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can't remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.

I actually rather enjoyed the The Last Exorcism - until the ending at least. And it's CLEAR this is not a spoof, I don't see a single Wayan.

I think I'm one of the only people who actually really liked the first movie (including the ending). This poster pretty silly, but I'll probably remember it.

Uh, Brad....if I asked you what you did "last week" should I assume it was your very last week?

    • Brad Brevet

Ahhhhh, so you're suggesting the original title essentially meant The Last Exorcism Until the Next One. Gotcha! Sorta like how Sunday is the last day of the week unless you consider Saturday the last day of the week, which would make Sunday the first day of the week, which only confuses people that consider Monday the first day of the week, which then makes me wonder what is actually the weekend or is it really the beginning of the week.

Thanks for clearing that up, it all makes sense now.

I don't understand the point of your heavy sarcasm. If you go to Merriam-Webster, and look up "last", one of its primary definitions come up: "a: next before the present : most recent "

I frankly use "last" like that all the time, and I'm sure that you must too.

"The Last Exorcism" was the last one that had happened at the time. It isn't as complicated as you are making it out to be.

The difference is that in the case of the first film, the term "last" was used in the sense of meaning "final," not "next before the present."

          • Newbourne

I admit that I'm not very informed because I never saw or intend to see "The Last Exorcism", but unless the movie made it clear this was supposed to be the final exorcism of all time, I don't think you are correct at all. The very nature of the sequel's existence makes it clear it was not "final". (unless the movie made it clear that the world ended without another exorcism taking place, but I suspect that isn't the case).

The original movie makes it very clear that the Priest in the film is performing what will be his "last" exorcism. Hence, it was titled, "The Last Exorcism". The only reason this film exists in the first place is to make cash in based on the success of the first. It is no different than the 4th final destination film being titled "The Final Destination," which was then followed shortly after by "Final Destination 5."

The first film was rubbish, so I'll be staying far away from this one.

Haven't seen the first one but I find the whole oxymoron in the title hilarious. Haha.
