Well, if this doesn't look and feel like it was inspired by The Exorcist then I don't know what does as New Line Cinema has premiered the first trailer for The Conjuring from Insidious and Saw director James Wan.

I didn't even watch the trailer, but simply skimming through it for the screen capture above and the title card I was immediately reminded of William Friedkin's classic, particularly the scene of Ellen Burstyn along the upstairs banister as she hears noises in the house.

As for the film, it purports to be based on a true story saying, "Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville." The story tells the tale of how world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

The Conjuring hits theaters on July 19 and I have to assume this trailer will play in front of The Last Exorcism Part II in theaters this weekend, but you can check it out right now directly below, and for a couple of previously released pictures from the film click here.

What a terrible trailer! Two long sequences of Taylor wandering around in a house filled with half open doors until someone claps. I shouldn't be that bored by an advertisement.

It looks like it could go either way. Some creeps in the trailer but I'm not always convinced by this new wave of low budget horrors. I would keep it on my list of 'interesting' just now.

Love the trailer... had a great retro vibe to it and actually creeped me out a bit. I think James Wan is one of the most talented people making horror films today, so I'm definitely interested.
